YOGARETREAT with Suzanne Hardt from Berlin
September 10-15, 2024
"Suffering that is yet to come can be avoided"
The original definition of yoga is the calming of our mental activities, which in turn leads us to inner calm, inner peace, clarity, stillness, all of which are states that we now include under the term relaxation and which are highly relevant to all of our lives.
It is clear that yoga is more than just a healthy form of physical exercise. During these days on Öland we will dive into the yoga philosophy and learn how it, although several thousand years old, is still highly relevant for us today and can show us ways to live a happier and more satisfied life. We will look at the obstacles on this path and how we can overcome them.
In addition to the introduction to yoga philosophy, we focus on the mindful practice of asana, sometimes practicing powerfully and dynamically in rhythm with our breathing and within our capabilities, and sometimes quietly meditatively. We practice simple breathing exercises and guided meditations as well as dream journeys. In this way, we involve not only the body but also the mind in our practice with the aim of physical well-being and holistic relaxation, rest and regeneration.
Accommodation and meals:
We live at Kollberggården, a farm on Öland, where my friend Malin lives with her family and their animals, including chickens, cats and, most importantly, several beautiful Icelandic horses.
A converted barn houses a bright 90m2 yoga room with a beautiful view, several single and double rooms with bunk beds, a kitchen that can be used by all and a large, cozy common area. There are some cabins and a guest apartment for 4 people. The sauna and jacuzzi are free to use.
The meals are deliciously vegetarian (vegan on request) and consist of a large breakfast/brunch and a rich, delicious dinner. The fresh ingredients are mostly locally sourced and organically grown.
Öland is an enchanting little island off the coast of southern Sweden with an incredibly rich, blooming nature and bright Scandinavian nights. Bicycles can be rented and Malin gives riding lessons on request. The sea isonly 2 kilometers away and invites you to linger. There are cafés in the area and the cycle paths are well developed. There is plenty of time to explore the island between yoga classes.

"Yoga, Icelandic horses, cycling, sea, wind and great food. Can there be more good ingredients for happiness? I think I just have to come back:-)"
Kerstin on the yoga trip to Öland
May 2023
Kollberghof is a wonderful place where we spent six days in May, with intensive yoga sessions twice a day in a very nice yoga room overlooking the paddock. There was plenty of time between the yoga sessions to make trips by bike to the surrounding cute little towns and to the nature reserve in the interior of the island. We were provided with very tasty food, always freshly prepared by Lisa - a real treat!
The yoga sessions were a good mix of challenging exercises, stretching postures and inner reflection. After the six days I noticed significant changes in my posture - upright yet relaxed😊
Overall a lovely time that still resonates and will definitely be repeated!

"I have been on "yoga vacation" with Susanne many times, but this time it could not be topped! Beautiful island, great community, super, super delicious, varied food and the weather - sunny. Sauna, whirlpool, large terrace, horses, bicycles, everything that was good for us was always available.
And then the yoga lessons by Susanne, who had each of us with our physical limitations in mind and always had a plan A, B or C ready in the asana practice; great, a super yoga class!"
Angelika on the 2019 trip to Öland:
"When I decided to go to Öland three years ago, I was in an emotional state of emergency. My mother had died only a few months before, and six months before that my daughter had broken off contact with me. I was numb with pain and grief. Then... endless lilac hedges, wild orchids, beautiful bike rides, walks by the sea, conversations with other women, 16 hours of yoga in five days... if I hadn't been there, I wouldn't believe it myself (I'm usually a physical inactivity freak). Back in Berlin, I realized that this trip to Öland has brought me back into motion and back to life. I can say that without exaggeration and I still look back on it with gratitude. Thank you, Susanne."
