About Us – Life at Kollberggården
Kollberggården is a working farm on Öland where people, animals, and nature come together. Here, tranquility, mindfulness, and rejuvenation take center stage—in a warm, personal, and rural setting.
A place for relaxation, horses, and nature
Kollberggården was born out of a longing for tranquility, mindfulness, and a more sustainable way of life. Here, we want to create a place where people can unwind, find peace, and recharge—in close contact with nature, animals, and themselves.
Here, yoga, horses, retreat life, and simple farm life come together in an environment where both people and animals are welcome.
Kollberggården is run by Malin
Malin grew up around horses and other animals and has worked with horses her entire life—both professionally and while pursuing her degree in civil engineering.
After graduating, she worked in Iceland with Icelandic horses and, for a short time, at Skanska on environmental issues. Even then, she continued to work with horses on the side.
Back in 2003, she founded Kollberggården, which has since grown into a place for retreats, relaxation, and encounters between people, animals, and nature.
In addition to her work on the farm, Malin is a riding instructor, yoga teacher, and mindfulness instructor, and she is currently pursuing further training in equine-assisted therapy. A deep commitment to people’s well-being is at the heart of everything that happens on the farm.
A farm for the whole family
Kollberggården is a family business where our four children are an integral part of the operation. They help out on weekends, during school breaks, and during the busy season, and they have all grown up around animals, horses, and farm life.
Vilma, the eldest, is doing an internship on the farm and is an important part of daily life here. She is highly sensitive and has been diagnosed with autism and ADD, something she is open about. In her safe environment, close to the animals and nature, her challenges are much less noticeable. She often needs to rest and conserve her energy, but her presence, warmth, and wonderful way with both people and animals are greatly appreciated by our guests.
Vilma owns two Icelandic horses and is also responsible for the farm’s two miniature horses. The smaller animals—rabbits, chickens, ducks, and cats—are also hers and contribute to the peaceful and lively atmosphere on the farm.
All four of our children have been riding since they were little. The two oldest, Vilma and Agnes, compete at the national level. Agnes works extensively on the farm during the season and helps out with the B&B, courses, and retreats—from serving breakfast and cooking to cleaning and maintaining the buildings.
Alexander and Rebecka also help out with simple tasks during school breaks and on their days off.
Together, we’re creating a place where both people and animals can thrive—and where life can be a little simpler, calmer, and closer to nature.

Collaboration focused on soil health
On the farm, we collaborate with CarboGaia, and some of the work takes place right here on the farm. This includes composting, soil health, and farming practices focused on sustainable cycles.
This is a natural part of our holistic approach—one that makes room for consideration of people, animals, and nature alike.
Welcome to Kollberggården
Here, we want to create a place where you can unwind, breathe, and feel at home—whether you’re here for a retreat, a workshop, a stay, or just a moment of relaxation.
